5 Stars to Mark Manson’s “The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*CK”. I loved this book not because it it revealed the key to a successful life, but because he’s honest as f*ck. Manson’s thoughts differ from the majority of authors who are in the self-help industry. His advice is: Don’t Try. Give up. Be Wrong. Stop Caring. Follow the Pain.
Manson elaborates on entitlement – the thinking that you deserve special treatment due to your problems or lack of problems. Questioning your emotions, death being a motivator, and relationships are just a few topics Manson applies a perspective many of us have never heard of or considered.
My favorite topic and excerpt from Mark Manson:
“The more freedom we’re given to express ourselves, the more we want to be free of having to deal with anyone who may disagree with us or upset us. The more exposed we are to opposing viewpoints, the more we seem to get upset that those other viewpoints exist.”
Manson elaborates on the underlying cause of this type of intolerance, that being–entitlement. Relate it to all the Facebook/Twitter fights you’ve read this week and I think you’ll be able to enjoy this section of The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck as well.
