This is for the ones curious about travel tips!
Unfortunately, I don’t have the ultimate secret for unlimited cheap travel, BUT Airbnb is mine and Rilde’s favorite app to book long-term & short-term stays!
Check it out and download it here: Airbnb
A couple tips and tricks for new users:
1) When you put in your destination, dates, and number of guests and hit search the first thing you want to take advantage of is the FILTERS button!
→Our first choice is ALWAYS filtering for “entire place.” That way we aren’t sharing someone’s home with them and our stay is private!
→However, be aware that “Entire Guest Suites” are most likely still apart of someone’s house! Our first choices are listed as “Entire Apartment” or “Entire House.”
We have taken advantage of private rooms & entire guest suites as a cheaper option and they’ve all been great semi-private stays 🙂 Our one agreed upon term is that we have to have our own bathroom!
→Another helpful filter is the slider to set your maximum per night price!
→Once you are searching through your options, use the green and white “location” bubble that appears in the bottom right corner. This brings up a map that will show you exactly the area Airbnb is currently searching in, and you can move it around! (helpful when searching in cities that appear in more than one state/country. If you “search: nearby” in my hometown Ravenna, it thinks you mean Ravenna, Italy (I WISH!).
2) Whether your booking last minute or in advance, send a message to your host before booking and ask for a discount! Why not save a little money whenever you can?!
3)Check the reviews! I’ve seen places that look great from the pictures but for those people who have stayed and reviewed the place have had a totally different experience. “Superhosts” usually do live up to their title (unless you are staying in a sketchy part of Cleveland, yikes!! speaking from experience). *If you ever do book an Airbnb that you don’t feel is safe once you arrive, or doesn’t meet your expectations contact Airbnb right away & you will get your money back*
